Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
If everyone is complaining of "moody africans," why would a move for Berahino make any sense? He was benched for 2 months last season for his attitude and threatened to strike. Also scored all of 7 goals (4 in the league).

El Scorchio 12:52 Mon Jul 18
Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
Yeah, me too, I think.

Berahino has seen his chance of going to Spurs go up in smoke and we're probably the best option for him as things stand.

Should be able to pick him up quite reasonably as well, and I'd be ok going into the season with him and Carroll up front and keeping a pile of money in the coffers.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
I'd swap him for Berahino and a couple of million, he's never going to play for us again so ship him out and get a good young striker in exchange

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
West Bromwich Albion remain determined to sign Diafra Sakho and know only a club record offer will land the wantaway West Ham man.

The Baggies splashed out £12 million on Venezuelan forward Salomon Rondon last summer - eclipsing the £10 million spent on Nigerian striker Brown Ideye in July 2014.

But they will need to go even higher to land Sakho, who was the subject of a failed £12 million bid from Sunderland earlier this summer.

Talks are ongoing between Albion and representatives of Sakho, who refused last week to meet up with the Hammers squad on their training camp in Austria.

But the Baggies might have to be quick in laying down a marker with Sunderland reportedly ready to return with an improved offer.

Love what D&S have done for us but i do feel announcing to the world we have £30m to spend on a top class striker has massively backfired on us, its pissed sakho off our best striker and it seems we are being held to ransom by every club globally who have a top striker.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
PD, of course it's not "real life". It's professional football with massive egos and even more massive amounts of money flying around. Sullivan should be more careful about the ramifications of what he says so too publicly, too often.

My point stands. In the case of Sakho, he's pretty much publicly stated he doesn't want him when we are clearly NOWHERE NEAR replacing him. That is plainly stupid. Meanwhile, Jack is Tweeting the board's every pipedream.

And, by suggesting he's not the "top" striker we want, DS has plausibly driven Sakho's price down.

By yelping how much money we have/"want" to spend, he's driving every replacement's price up.

He even said in May he'll fund a "top" striker out of his own pocket if needs be. Oh look, prices have gone up again! NO OTHER chairman behaves in this way.

I can fully understand why Sakho put in a transfer request, but be a fucking professional and play when you're asked to.

Geoff, I don't really do the clichéd thing of likening playing football for a small fortune to a 'normal job'. Let's live in the real world, it isn't just a job. They're not robots, they understand it's more than that, no problem with them wanting to maximise their earnings, but let's not let that get in the way of Sakho being a cunt.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
Fair enough gents.

So, when your boss said publicly he was going to find someone "top" to do your job, would you:

a) sit there and wait for it to happen?
b) look for another job IMMEDIATELY, knowing you could probably also improve your salary?

Sakho's being a twat as he's making himself less-employable, but I'm hardly surprised he's gone for b). His agent will hardly need encouraging. That is all.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
Geoff, if I was in a job where I phoned in sick half the time, I wouldn't have any complaints if my employers were looking for someone more reliable. As long as they were paying me I wouldn't start refusing to turn up when I was perfectly OK.

Yes, DS is a gobby twat who shows his hand too much in the media. But the blame rests with one person and one person only.

I hope he gets the welcome he deserves when he visits our ground with whatever third rate shit club he joins.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
Well, Geoff, if my company gave me the chance of a lifetime in the first place, took me from obscurity to fame and fortune, payed me a fortune regardless of what other employees at that company were earning, and this was a company who had form for giving people regular pay rises when they perform, I could of course try to improve myself, knuckle down and try to do everything I possibly could to perform at my best and not be more concerned about chasing skirt and sticking supercars into walls, and make sure I made myself first choice at my company through will and desire?

Nah, fuck that, let's just act like a cunt because the boss is trying to employ additional people.

The man is a fucking moody cunt, we'll be well rid.

All mouth no trousers? Remind me of what position we was in few seasons ago.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
Now now Eerie, I didn't say I felt "sorry" for him.

I opined that it was vastly unhelpful to talk of spending loads (Brady backed him up) on a "top striker" and not expect Sakho to think: "He's got no faith in me. Fuck that, then."

If, in whatever job you do, your boss talked of getting a "proper" or "top" person in your position, would you not think about moving??

It might be for the best. But right now, DS is all mouth and no trousers. Again. And his trousers are short enough as it is. We're currently on our 5th or 6th "top" options (what are THEY thinking) of DS?), while fucking off what we DID have. Genius.

I really do think this has been handled poorly. Sure there is greed on Sakhos part but he has seen a raft of players get more money than him including some pretty average ones.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if he goes somewhere else and hits 20 goals in a season whilst we scrape up some has-been or big name waste of space that struggles to get 10.

Eerie Descent 10:12 Sun Jul 17

You're right Geoff, it really does make the heart bleed when you think of poor Sakho's plight. I mean, I bet it's a struggle getting out of bed under all that duress.

Re: Sakho hands in transfer request...
It IS MOSTLY SULLIVAN's FAULT.

IN May, he told Sky

‘We put in a bid today for €30m for a player and other bids will be going in.

‘We are going to make a £20m or £25m bid for a player in England this week. So whatever happens we’ll bring a top striker in.'

WEnt onto to say will spend £30m-£50m on transfers this summer' blah blah.

SAkho's first language isn't English, so how would he take that?. Carroll probably understood and, anyway, he's on £80k? Sakho reportedly on £30k? Salaries aside, the clear inference is that Sullivan doesn't think Sakho is a "top striker". And Sakho and his agent will know how much DS influences buys.

All DS needed to say was "another top striker" or mention strengthening and the player and his agent would more likely have accepted situation.

Sakho doesn't appear to want to go anywhere in particular. He just wants out. Frankly, I'm not really surprised...even if he's acting the cunt by refusing to play, as that does no-one any favours.

I'm just bored of Sullivan opening his fucking gob. Despite the many, many good things he's done. And I'm more bored of saying it.

Well, Demba Ba did the same thing at Hoffenheim before he came to us and it didn't do his long term future any harm at all (unless you think his massive leg break today was karma).

Totally agree. Stop his wages until he starts to cooperate. Ironic, if all this is a massive sulk about not being paid what he thinks he's worth. It's very short-sighted from Sakho - the longer this goes on the lower his value will become, both in terms of transfer value and earning potential. Cunt.
